Catastrophic Thinking Remedy

3 easy steps to stop Catastrophizing
3 steps to change future dread or discomfort to something better
When you get immersive with your own imagination or memories you can totally change the way you feel. Check for yourself.
Step 1. Worst case scenario
The outcome of feeling that you don''t want is likely your brain trying to warn you about some kind of risk. Treat this like a well meaning friend trying to be helpful.
Step 2. Best case scenario
Now imagine things going particularly well instead, take a few minutes to really get into what that scene would be like and how well it could go.
Step 3. Likely middle ground
Imagine now some middle ground between best and worst case that is actually likely. What is a likely outcome that's not so bad?
This is a skill I learned from Professor & Author Martin Seligman.
This simple process is an overview of a solution to catastrophic thinking.
While some people may find this quick note enough to make noticeable changes, This IS something that can be a learned skill and also something that can be better addressed working together sometimes.
